Tudor Ulianovschi discussed the possibilities of enhancing the Strategic Dialogue between Republic of Moldova and USA with Bridget Brink
March 7, Chişinău – The enhancement of the strategic dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America, intensifying the high level political dialogue, as well as the main cooperation objectives in various fields have been discussed today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi in the meeting with Bridget Brink, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.

During the discussion, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi highlighted the determination of the Moldovan Government to continue the implementation process of democratic and structural reforms in the fields of justice, trade, fight against corruption, etc. At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that at the moment, the support of our partners for the determined efforts of ensuring the democratic transformations in the country and the region, is very important for the Republic of Moldova and for the region overall. Minister Ulianovschi said that “We plead for the enhancement of the strategic dialogue Republic of Moldova – USA and the carrying out, throughout the year, of the meetings of the common working groups on energy security, rule of law and the bilateral consultations in other fields of mutual interest“.

The head of Moldovan diplomacy appreciated the extremely valuable support of the American partners in promoting the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and the continuation of the 5+2 negotiations in the sight of identifying a political solution for the Transnistrian problem, whilst preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and oferring a special status to the Transnistrian region.

At the same time, Bridget Brink reiterated the support of the USA for the identification of a viable solution in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, whilst respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State appreciated the organization of the “Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine: Eastern Partnership – Current security challenges” conference, the latter being an efficient platform for the three countries for analyzing the encountered risks and developing common strategies and actions for their settlement.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State pointed out the measures taken by the Moldovan Government in the implementation of wide country modernization programs, mentioning the importance of intensifying the efforts in the fight against corruption, combating the trafficking in human beings, reformation of the justice and economy fields, therefore contributing to the social, economic and political development of our country.

Interlocutors exchanged views on the main subjects on the cooperation agenda between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America, including the introduction on the USA Congress agenda of the Resolution project on the enhancement of the bilateral relations between the USA and the Republic of Moldova and the support of the authorities in Washington for the territorial integrity of our country, submitted by the co-chairmen of the Congressional Moldova Caucus – David Price and Pete Olson.
